Dobong-gu Selected as an Excellent Institution in Seoul's '2020 Anti-Corruption Best Practices' Competition
Starting This January, Nationwide First Operation of the 'Employment Inspector System' for Fair Hiring... Employment Inspectors Attend New Hiring to Propose Improvements and Request Audits on Illegal or Unfair Practices
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) was selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for operating Employment Inspectors to ensure fair personnel recruitment in the '2020 Anti-Corruption Best Practices' contest hosted by Seoul City.
This contest was promoted to actively discover and share excellent anti-corruption cases autonomously implemented by Seoul City headquarters, business offices, autonomous districts, and investment-funded institutions to spread and establish a culture of integrity in Seoul.
Seoul City received a total of 86 anti-corruption and integrity practice cases and selected 12 final excellent cases based on evaluation criteria such as corruption relevance, specificity, effectiveness, ripple effect potential, and creativity.
Among them, Dobong-gu was selected as an excellent institution in the anti-corruption field for operating the 'Employment Inspector System.'
The 'Employment Inspector System' is a system where residents directly participate in the entire recruitment process to monitor the fairness of public recruitment. Dobong-gu introduced and has been implementing the 'Employment Inspector System' nationwide for the first time since January this year.
Employment Inspectors observe the recruitment process during new hires in all departments and affiliated organizations of Dobong-gu and play a role in proposing improvements and requesting audits regarding illegal or unfair matters.
To this end, the district enacted and promulgated the 'Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of Employment Inspectors in Dobong-gu, Seoul Special City' in September last year.
Additionally, five individuals with high integrity and morality who have experience in related fields such as university professors, police officers, and public officials were appointed as Employment Inspectors.

Mayor Dongjin Lee of Dobong-gu stated, “Starting the 7th term of the elected government, we promised the residents a just society and a fair Dobong, and to fulfill this, we introduced the nationwide first Employment Inspector System. I consider this selection as an excellent case very meaningful as it seems our efforts have borne small fruits. We will enhance integrity not only in recruitment but also in all administrative fields to realize a clean and transparent Dobong.”
