[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongnam announced the winners of the '2020 Changwon Commerce and Industry Awards' on the 12th, recognizing businesspeople who contributed to the development of the local economy.
The Changwon Chamber selected six employees and two companies in four categories?management, technology, labor, and regional contribution?divided into mid-sized/large enterprises and small and medium enterprises. The awards ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on the 18th at the Changwon Rivera Convention.
In the mid-sized/large enterprise category, the winners were Son Kyung-seok, CEO of Firstec (management); Kim Sung-moon, Executive Director of Hyundai BNG Steel (technology); Seon Gu-jun, Manager at Gyeongnam Energy (labor); and Hyundai Wia (regional contribution).
CEO Son was recognized for achieving annual sales exceeding 30 billion KRW in the newly entered aerospace industry sector. Executive Director Kim contributed to maintaining the industry-leading position by improving productivity and quality at the Changwon factory. Manager Seon contributed to maintaining a 43-year tradition of a dispute-free workplace by promoting labor-management harmony, enhancing employee rights, and improving working conditions.
Hyundai Wia received high marks for its welfare projects, which have been funded by deducting 1% from employees' monthly salaries since 2012.
In the small and medium enterprise category, the awards went to Lee Sung-moon, CEO of Seongpyeong (management); Lee Yong-taek, Executive Director of Weltem (technology); Seol Soon-sun, Manager at Daegun Tech (labor); and Da-il Electric (regional contribution).
CEO Lee was recognized for maintaining corporate value by establishing a technology research institute. Executive Director Lee contributed to export growth through continuous technological development. Manager Seol was acknowledged for overseeing production management and eliminating waste factors, contributing to company development.
