EXCO for Three Days Until the 15th... This Year, Art Fair and Youth Art Project Held Together
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 10th that it will hold the '2020 Daegu Art Square,' which integrates the region's largest art market, the Art Fair, and the Youth Art Project, at EXCO from the 13th to the 15th.
The 'Daegu Art Fair,' now in its 13th year, features 69 galleries from Korea and abroad selected through a rigorous screening process. Although the number of participating galleries has decreased compared to last year due to COVID-19, the organizers explained that they aim to elevate the event's prestige by showcasing high-quality works.
Participating countries include six nations: Korea, Japan, the United States, Germany, France, and Tanzania. By region, there are 27 galleries from Daegu and Gyeongbuk, 30 from Seoul and Gyeonggi, 6 from other regions, and 6 from overseas.
At this Daegu Art Fair, which will exhibit about 3,000 works by over 400 domestic and international artists, works by famous Korean artists such as Koo Bon-chang, Kim Jae-yong, and Kim Chang-yeol, as well as various international artists including David Goldstein, David Hockney, and Takashi Murakami, will be displayed.
The concurrently held '12th Youth Art Project' features 13 young local artists. The works passionately created by artists under the age of 40 will be showcased.
In workshops for children, works by Tanzanian artists submitted by the Embassy of Tanzania in Korea will also be introduced. Children can participate in programs such as coloring Kilimanjaro animal drawings from Tanzanian artists' works and making tumblers.
