Kim Geun-sik Calls Ahn Cheol-soo's New Party Formation Proposal "Out of the Blue"

On the 9th, Kim said on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' program, "Suddenly talking about forming a new party or gathering in a third zone seems a bit unexpected."
He added, "The proposal for new party formation mentioned a few days ago seems to have progressed too far from my perspective," and said, "The opposition party's merger or new party formation ahead of the by-election for mayor seems to go beyond the goal of candidate unification, so I think there might be other intentions or thoughts behind it."
He continued, "It is neither the period before the presidential election nor the general election, so talking like this might be considering the card of party formation not only to win next year's Seoul mayoral election but also to take the lead of the entire opposition," and claimed, "It seems that Ahn wants to take the initiative in the opposition realignment."
Kim said, "The new party formation discussing the leadership of opposition realignment is a story possible only after next year, at the point before the 2022 presidential election," and added, "Talking about new party formation considering the presidential election is somewhat mistimed and too premature."

He also emphasized, "Since the People Power Party's primary rules have been set, candidates outside the party like Ahn Cheol-soo, Geum Tae-seop, and other prominent figures outside the party can discuss the rules and methods of the primary together, so there are issues that can be sufficiently discussed without necessarily forming a new party."
