Dongdaemun-gu Begins Pilot Operation of Dog Playground
Opposite Hwikyung 2-dong Community Center, Dog Playground Established, Pilot Operation for One Month from the 9th... Promoting Canine Socialization and Psychological Stability, Expecting to Foster a Healthy Pet Culture
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] In an era with 15 million pet owners, Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) has embarked on creating a community where people and pets coexist harmoniously.
The district is establishing a dog playground at 7-7 Huigyeong-dong (opposite Huigyeong 2-dong Community Service Center) and will begin a one-month pilot operation starting November 9.
The newly created dog playground covers an area of 955m² and will be piloted from the 9th until December 11, with operating hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. Parking spaces are also provided, allowing visitors to use the playground more conveniently.
The Dongdaemun-gu dog playground, long awaited by dog-owning families, will collect feedback from users and residents during the one-month pilot operation to review improvements, aiming for official operation in March 2021.
Next year, as the dog playground officially opens, the district plans to offer programs such as dog behavior education for playground users.
According to experts, dogs living only indoors can experience severe stress and may show aggression. Providing a space where dogs and their owners can run and play together will help with dogs' socialization training and psychological stability.
