Assemblyman Park Soon-gyu Appointed as Chair of the Special Committee for the Confirmation Hearing of the Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation Chairman Candidate at Seoul Metropolitan Council

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Special Committee on the Personnel Hearing for the Candidate for Chairman of the Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation of the Seoul Metropolitan Council held its first meeting at 3 p.m. on the 6th, appointing Assemblyman Park Soon-gyu (Democratic Party of Korea, Jung-gu 1·photo) as chairman, and Assemblymen Jang Sang-gi (Democratic Party of Korea, Gangseo 6) and Hong Seong-ryong (Democratic Party of Korea, Songpa 3) as vice chairmen, respectively.
This special committee was formed through the process of proposing the resolution to organize the Special Committee on the Personnel Hearing for the Candidate for Chairman of the Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation and appointing its members (’20.11.2.) to select the candidate for chairman of the Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation.
The special committee will conduct a thorough verification of management capabilities and policy execution abilities through the personnel hearing for the candidate for chairman of the Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation, transparently and objectively assessing whether the candidate is a suitable talent to improve operational efficiency and citizen convenience for the newly launched public enterprise, the Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation.
The personnel hearing of the Seoul Metropolitan Council is conducted based on the agreement between the Seoul Metropolitan Council and the Seoul Metropolitan Government (Agreement on Conducting Personnel Hearings between the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Metropolitan Council, April 14, 2017) and the related memorandum of understanding (MOU on Personnel Hearing T/F for Appointment Candidates of Heads of Local Public Enterprises under the Seoul Metropolitan Government, April 14, 2017). It is carried out to verify management capabilities on behalf of citizens and to ensure fairness and transparency in the personnel process when hiring heads of institutions under the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Assemblyman Park, elected as chairman, emphasized, “The Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation, scheduled to launch on January 1, 2021, is an integrated operating institution for the Seoul Water Reuse Centers that have been operated separately so far. It aims to create synergy, improve treatment efficiency, and provide citizens with a high-quality water circulation service through efficient and stable sewage treatment.”
He also stated, “The Seoul Metropolitan Council will thoroughly verify the management capabilities and policy execution abilities of the head of the Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation through the personnel hearing to ensure a pleasant water circulation system for Seoul citizens, and will strive to set a good example for future personnel hearings.”

The special committee plans to submit a personnel hearing progress report on the candidate for chairman of the Seoul Water Reuse Facilities Corporation after conducting the hearing, in accordance with the ‘Agreement on Conducting Personnel Hearings between the Seoul Metropolitan Council and the Seoul Metropolitan Government.’
