[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunjin Jung] Three major US broadcasters cut away from live coverage of President Donald Trump's press conference after he made claims of a "rigged election." The broadcasters explained that they could not continue to air lies without any evidence.
According to The New York Times (NYT) on the 5th (local time), three major US broadcasters?ABC, CBS, and NBC?cut away from the press conference held by President Trump at the White House in the afternoon. This occurred several minutes after he made claims of a rigged election.
NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt said, "The president made many false statements, including claims of a rigged election, so we have to stop here," adding, "There is no evidence for these claims." ABC anchor David Muir and CBS anchor Nancy Cordes also explained to viewers that fact-checking was necessary.
The NYT reported, "While CNN and Fox News aired President Trump's remarks as they were, the three broadcasters decided to block his unverified statements," adding, "These three broadcasters have more viewers in that time slot than CNN, MSNBC, or Fox News."

CNN displayed a caption alongside Trump's remarks saying, "President Trump is making claims of fraud without any evidence."
