Pohang Yonghan-ri Beach Reborn as a 'Surfing Hotspot'... Gyeongbuk Province Invests 2 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 6th that it will invest a total project cost of 2 billion KRW by next year to develop Yonghan-ri Beach in Heunghae-eup, Pohang City, into a domestic surfing (wave riding) hotspot.
Yonghan-ri Beach in Pohang is known among surfers as a suitable area for surfing due to its good winter waves. It is a famous surfing spot in Gyeongbuk, nicknamed the "New Port." Yonghan-ri Beach is formed on the side of the breakwater, making it easy to capture surfers' surfing scenes in photos, and it also provides favorable conditions for accompanying family members and groups to watch.
Until now, despite its reputation, Yonghan-ri Beach has received many complaints from users due to a lack of convenience facilities. Accordingly, Gyeongsangbuk-do plans to resolve surfers' inconveniences by installing convenience facilities such as showers, changing rooms, restrooms, promotional sculptures, and resting areas by next year in cooperation with Pohang City.
