Jeonnam National University Published 'Regional Development Studies' Selected as a KCI-Indexed Academic Journal
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Regional Development Research Institute at Chonnam National University announced on the 5th that its biannual academic journal, Regional Development Research, has been selected as a registered journal in the Korea Citation Index (KCI) of the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Regional Development Research was selected as a candidate journal in the 2018 new journal evaluation and was promoted to a registered journal in this year's continuous evaluation.
The National Research Foundation of Korea evaluates hundreds of domestic academic journals annually based on publication stability, submission and acceptance rates, as well as academic value, and classifies them into general academic journals, candidate journals, registered journals, and outstanding registered journals.
Registered (candidate) journals are registered in the Korea Citation Index (KCI), which databases domestic journal information, paper information, and references to analyze citation relationships between papers. Citation information serves as a qualitative evaluation indicator of domestic research achievements and is used as basic data for national R&D policy formulation.
Furthermore, the journal gains recognition for its authority and expertise as a specialized journal in the field, and the achievements and research capabilities of professors and researchers publishing in the journal are reflected in their evaluations.
Regional Development Research has been published since its inaugural issue in 1969, currently up to Volume 52, Issue 1 (Total Issue 91), and plans to increase publication frequency to more than three times a year.
The journal has published specialized research papers to discover various topics responding to changes in regional development paradigms and to realize the glocalization of regional development studies.
