[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House stated that regardless of the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, the strong ROK-U.S. alliance will be maintained. In particular, the Blue House plans to hold a National Security Council (NSC) Standing Committee meeting at 3 p.m. on the 5th to discuss the results of the U.S. presidential election.
Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, said at a briefing at the Chuncheon Press Center on the morning of the 5th, "No matter the outcome of the U.S. presidential election, our government will maintain the strong ROK-U.S. alliance and continue cooperation."
Spokesperson Kang added, "We will cooperate with the new administration to achieve denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and a peace regime," and said, "We will closely communicate with any administration in accordance with the tradition of cooperation between the two countries."
The Blue House plans to report the results to President Moon Jae-in after discussing the U.S. election outcome through the NSC Standing Committee on the same day.

A senior Blue House official, when asked whether President Moon had been briefed on the U.S. election situation and about the possibility of President Trump’s camp contesting the election results, said, "It is not appropriate to say more beyond the official position," and explained, "The NSC Standing Committee’s report to the president is expected around 4 p.m."
