Noh Young-min "Yoon Seok-yeol Mentioned as Opposition Presidential Candidate, Even He Must Feel Embarrassed"
October 4 National Assembly Steering Committee Audit
"If the request to be excluded from the investigation had been honored, it would not have happened"
When asked if a 'term guarantee' was promised, "I cannot comment on personnel or term-related matters"
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Chief Presidential Secretary Noh Young-min commented on Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol being mentioned as a presidential candidate, saying, "He himself must feel embarrassed and awkward."
On the morning of the 4th, during the National Assembly's National Assembly Operations Committee audit, Noh responded to People Power Party floor leader Joo Ho-young's question, "Do you know why Prosecutor General Yoon is receiving such high approval ratings?" by saying, "It's because the surveys show that. If the request to exclude him from the surveys had been honored, it wouldn't have been like this."
Regarding the question, "Isn't Prosecutor General Yoon being persecuted by the regime and isn't this a reflection of disappointment with the regime? Isn't this something to be ashamed of?" he replied, "There can be differences in interpretation."
He said, "I understand that Prosecutor General Yoon publicly requested to be excluded from opinion polls," adding, "The very situation where the sitting Prosecutor General is mentioned as an opposition presidential candidate must be embarrassing and awkward for Yoon himself."
In response to People Power Party lawmaker Jo Su-jin's questions, "Did President Moon Jae-in promise Yoon a guaranteed term?" and "Did Yoon lie?" Noh replied, "I cannot comment on personnel or term-related matters."
Earlier, on the 22nd of last month during the Supreme Prosecutors' Office audit, Yoon said, "When there were calls from the Democratic Party to resign after the general election, the appointing authority, the President, conveyed through an appropriate messenger to 'not be shaken and fulfill your term and duties'."
When asked, "Do you think the Moon Jae-in administration is close to fairness?" he answered, "The Moon Jae-in government is enforcing the law fairly based on all statutes more than any previous administration."
Regarding the question, "Has any material been submitted to the prosecution following the President's instructions related to the Lime and Optimus scandals?" he said, "We are actively cooperating with the prosecution's requests for materials." When lawmaker Jo asked again, "Does that mean there are materials?" Noh replied, "Since it is an ongoing investigation, I cannot answer."
