'Defamation' Charges
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Captain Kim, who was the superior officer during the military service of Seo Mo, the son of Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae, has filed a defamation complaint against Kim Gwan-jung, the head of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, who investigated the 'special leave' case.
According to the legal community on the 4th, Captain Kim's side submitted a complaint to the Supreme Prosecutors' Office recently, claiming that Prosecutor Kim's remarks at the National Assembly inspection of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office and its affiliated prosecutors' offices on the 19th of last month constituted defamation.
At the time of the inspection, Prosecutor Kim explained the reason for rejecting Captain Kim's testimony, which conflicted with Seo's, by saying, "The support officer gave four statements, but none of them were the same," and added, "Before the prosecution's search and seizure, the support officer deleted all phone call records from his mobile phone," implying that it was difficult to trust Captain Kim's testimony.
