KOSPI Maintaining Upward Momentum... Settling Above 2330 Level
At One Point, Nearly 1.94% Increase Compared to Previous Day... KOSDAQ Also on the Rise
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI maintained its early morning upward momentum and settled above the 2330 level. The KOSDAQ also showed a rise of over 1% compared to the previous day.
As of 2:12 PM on the 3rd, the KOSPI recorded 2333.19, up 1.44% from the previous day. After opening at 2315.81, up 0.68% from the previous day, it steadily climbed and maintained the 2330 range. At one point in the morning, it rose nearly 2% from the previous day to 2344.77.
Foreign investors and institutions showed strong buying. They net purchased 129 billion KRW and 342.1 billion KRW respectively. On the other hand, individual investors net sold 470.6 billion KRW.
Almost all sectors showed gains. Pharmaceuticals had the largest increase at 2.76%, followed by Chemicals (2.42%), Electrical & Electronics (2.04%), and Medical Precision (2.02%). The Transportation Equipment sector fell by 0.23%.
More than half of the top 10 companies by market capitalization rose. LG Chem stood out with a 4.8% increase, followed by Celltrion (4.5%), Samsung SDI (4.2%), Samsung Electronics (2.2%), and SK Hynix (1.6%). NAVER (-1.5%), LG Household & Health Care (-0.9%), Hyundai Motor (-0.2%), and Kakao (-0.1%) declined.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ recorded 814.43, up 1.43% from the previous close. After opening at 810.01, up 0.88% from the previous day, it continued to rise. At 12:01 PM, it reached 821.28, up 2.28% from the previous close. Although the increase slightly narrowed afterward, it still maintained a mid-1% range rise.
Again, foreign investors and institutions drove the index upward with net purchases of 31.8 billion KRW and 44.7 billion KRW respectively. Meanwhile, individual investors net sold 69 billion KRW.
Most sectors showed gains. Telecommunications Equipment rose the most at 3.58%, followed by General Electrical & Electronics (2.28%), Distribution (2.18%), and IT Hardware (2.03%). Computer Services and Financial sectors fell by 0.17% and 0.14%, respectively.

All of the top 10 companies by market capitalization on the KOSDAQ are rising. EcoPro BM led with a 4.6% increase, followed by KMH (4.0%), Celltrion Healthcare (3.4%), Alteogen (2.7%), and Celltrion Pharm (2.4%).
