Seoul Reports 22 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Further Spread from One Gym to Another Health Club
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] As additional confirmed cases have occurred in gyms, saunas, golf gatherings, and music and dance academies, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by more than 20 again yesterday.
Seoul City announced on the 3rd at midnight that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul increased by 22 compared to the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 6,103.
Among the new confirmed cases that day, 13 were classified as cluster infections, 2 were cases of contact with confirmed patients, 1 was imported from overseas, and 6 were under investigation for infection routes.
Among the cluster infections, 4 confirmed cases (cumulative 22) were related to a gym in Gangnam-gu. After one resident from another city working at this gym was first confirmed positive on October 27, 21 more cases were confirmed by October 31, and 5 additional cases by November 2, making a total of 27 related confirmed cases so far. Among these, 22 cases are from Seoul.
The newly added confirmed cases that day included 5 people who used another gym frequented by the existing gym confirmed cases. Epidemiological investigations revealed that additional transmission occurred between the two facilities.
Additionally, 3 more confirmed cases (cumulative 20) related to the existing cluster at a Seoul music academy, and 2 more cases (cumulative 16) related to a hospital in Songpa-gu were reported. Furthermore, 1 additional confirmed case each was added related to the Ace Hope Care Center in Dongdaemun-gu (cumulative 13), Lucky Sauna in Gangnam-gu (cumulative 36), Dongmun Golf gathering in Yongin City (cumulative 26), and a dance academy in Bucheon (cumulative 4).
So far in Seoul, 5,545 people have been declared fully recovered and discharged, while 480 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
