KAMCO Opens 'KAMCO Brary Branch No. 26' in Geumjeong-gu, Busan
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] Kamco (Korea Asset Management Corporation) held the opening ceremony of the 26th Kamco Library branch at the “Geulnuri Community Child Center” located in Jangjeon-dong, Geumjeong-gu, Busan on the 3rd.
Kamco Library is a compound word of ‘Kamco’ and ‘Library,’ representing Kamco’s flagship educational social contribution activity that remodels outdated spaces within community child centers to create small libraries, aiming to improve the learning environment and support reading activities for children and adolescents.
Starting with the first branch in Busan, where its headquarters are located, in 2015, Kamco has opened the 26th Kamco Library in Geumjeong-gu, Busan, following branches in Seoul, Daegu, Daejeon, Changwon, Jeju, and others.
The 26th branch was selected through an open recruitment process for community child centers in need of improved reading environments, in collaboration with the Kamco Busan Regional Headquarters, Geumjeong-gu Office, and the Korean Red Cross. To open the 26th branch, Kamco first donated about 500 children’s books and also provided necessary furnishings such as desks, chairs, and air purifiers.
Additionally, to improve the poor indoor environment that previously suffered from condensation and mold, the child center, which was originally located in the basement, was relocated to the second floor of the building. The floor was refurbished, and the outdated restrooms were remodeled, focusing on enhancing safety and convenience facilities for children and adolescents at the community child center.
Furthermore, over the next five years, Kamco plans to systematically support book purchases, reading guidance, and cultural experience activities. Various social contribution activities will also be carried out, including workplace experience programs for children and adolescents using the Kamco Library and talent donations from Kamco employees.
