Emart Launches 6th 'E-Word' Event, Largest Ever in History
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Emart is launching the 6th round of its cashback promotion, ‘E-ward’.
E-ward is Emart’s cashback promotion where customers who shop at Emart with a designated card and meet a monthly spending commitment can purchase high-end home appliances with a ‘0 won’ installment payment. For example, if a customer buys a dryer on installment and shops at Emart with a Samsung Card spending 350,000 KRW monthly, they receive about 38,000 KRW back on their installment payment.
The 6th E-ward event will be conducted with Samsung Card and is open for enrollment from November 5 to December 30. To celebrate the 1st anniversary of E-ward, both Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are participating, and the event features the largest selection and quantity ever prepared.
The event products include eight items such as Samsung and LG kimchi refrigerators and drum washing machines, which have never been offered in previous E-ward events, as well as wireless vacuum cleaners, dryers, electric rice cookers, and golf clubs. Compared to the 5th E-ward event, the number of items increased from six to eight, and the prepared quantity more than doubled from 1,800 to 4,150 units.
This event is characterized by lowering the shopping commitment amount and extending the installment period to allow more customers to participate. For example, in the 4th E-ward event, the LG Styler was offered with a 400,000 KRW monthly commitment and 25-month installment plan, whereas in the 6th event, similarly priced Samsung dryers and Samsung kimchi refrigerators are offered with a 350,000 KRW monthly commitment and 35-month installment plan.
Representative event products include the ‘Samsung Dryer 16kg’ with a 350,000 KRW monthly commitment over 35 months and an estimated monthly installment of 38,286 KRW; the ‘LG Handy + Robot Mop Cleaner Set (A9+M9)’ with a 350,000 KRW monthly commitment over 35 months and an estimated monthly installment of 35,429 KRW; and the ‘LG Kimchi Refrigerator Stand 4-Door’ with a 450,000 KRW monthly commitment over 35 months and an estimated monthly installment of 52,571 KRW.
To participate in E-ward, customers must visit an Emart store, fill out a participation application, and purchase the designated event product with a Samsung Card on an interest-free installment plan. Then, by shopping with the designated card at any Emart or Electromart nationwide from the 1st to the end of each month for the committed amount, the monthly installment will be automatically deducted from the card payment on the 25th of the following month.
The first month’s installment payment is supported regardless of whether the shopping commitment is met, and customers who are already participating in the E-ward event at Emart with Samsung Card cannot enroll again.
Meanwhile, the 5th E-ward event, which ended on the 31st of last month, received such strong response that additional stock was introduced twice. LG laptops sold out the initial 300 units within two weeks of the event start, and the additional 450 units introduced were also sold out by mid-October, just one month later. De’Longhi coffee machines also sold out the prepared 300 units within a month, with additional stock bringing total sales to about 400 units.
E-ward has also continuously contributed to sales activation. According to the results of the 1st to 4th E-ward events, the average monthly purchase amount of E-ward customers increased by more than 40% compared to before participation, and the number of purchases also increased by 30%.
Meanwhile, Traders is also separately conducting the 4th ‘Traders Reward’ event during the same period. The event products include six items such as Samsung and LG kimchi refrigerators, dryers, and drum washing machines.
