Kia Motors Sells 265,714 Units in October... Domestic and Overseas Markets Both Show Growth
48,009 Units Sold Domestically... Carnival Tops with 12,093 Units as 'Bestselling'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Kia Motors announced on the 2nd that it sold a total of 265,714 vehicles globally in October this year, including 48,009 units domestically and 217,705 units overseas, marking a 6.1% increase compared to the same period last year. Domestic sales increased by 1.8%, while overseas sales rose by 7% compared to the previous year.
By model, the Sportage was the best-selling vehicle in the global market with 35,811 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 30,822 units, and the K3 (Forte) with 25,533 units.
The best-selling vehicle domestically last month was the Carnival with 12,093 units. Passenger models sold a total of 14,948 units, including 5,459 units of the K5, 2,593 units of the Morning, and 2,501 units of the Ray. RV models, including the Carnival, sold a total of 27,119 units, with 7,261 units of the Sorento and 3,344 units of the Seltos.
Commercial models recorded a total of 5,942 units sold, including 5,883 units of the Bongo III, combining buses and trucks.
Overseas sales in October increased by 7% year-on-year to 217,705 units. By model, the Sportage led overseas sales with 34,386 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 27,478 units and the K3 (Forte) with 24,029 units.

A Kia Motors official stated, “Although the worsening COVID-19 situation has increased management uncertainties, we are minimizing negative impacts through proactive risk management,” adding, “We will overcome difficulties by leading with competitive new models such as the Sorento and Carnival.”
