Gwangju City Extends Support for Employers' Share of Employment Retention Subsidy
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 2nd that it will extend support for the 'Employer's Share of Employment Retention Subsidy' to assist companies facing crisis situations due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Gwangju City has been implementing the 'Employer's Share Support' for small and medium-sized workplaces with fewer than 300 employees located in Gwangju, linked with the Ministry of Employment and Labor's Employment Retention Subsidy, to reduce the burden on companies struggling to maintain employment and to retain workers. This initiative was the first of its kind nationwide and has been in effect since April.
Originally, this program provided up to 10% support for the employer's share for a maximum of 180 days. However, with the government's extension of the special employment retention subsidy period until the end of the year, an additional 60 days have been added, expanding the total support period to 240 days.
Support is provided by submitting the application form, payment decision document, and related materials to the Gwangju Economic and Employment Promotion Agency website by 6 p.m. on February 10 of next year, after the government's (Ministry of Employment and Labor) employment retention subsidy payment decision is confirmed. The facts will be verified, and the subsidy will be paid accordingly.
Companies experiencing difficulties with the application process can receive assistance through the Bitgoeul Small Business Guardian and the SME Service Support Group, which operate to provide guidance on various government and local government support projects and to listen to any difficulties.
