With only one day left until the election, the confrontation between the two candidates is reaching its peak.
On the 1st (local time), U.S. internet media Axios cited sources saying that President Trump recently told his close aides that if early results on the evening of the 3rd, election day, show him leading, he will immediately declare victory.
This is based on the fact that he has many supporters voting in person on election day. Axios reported that President Trump made this statement after the federal Supreme Court allowed Pennsylvania, a key battleground state, to accept mail-in ballots even after the election had ended.
Stephen Miller, the communications director for the Trump campaign, also supported President Trump's judgment in an interview with ABC News on the same day, stating that Trump would secure more than 280 electoral votes on election day. The number of electoral votes needed to win the U.S. presidential election is 270.
Regarding Axios's report, President Trump, while meeting reporters during a campaign rally in North Carolina, claimed it was fake news but also openly expressed dissatisfaction with delays in vote counting, saying, "Waiting a long time for the counting results is not fair."
During a campaign stop in Dubuque, Iowa, on the same day, President Trump said, "We need to know the election results on the evening of November 3rd," adding, "It has always been that way, and it should be that way," hinting at the possibility of declaring victory on election day.
In response to the report, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden criticized, saying, "President Trump will not be able to steal the election results." This is interpreted as the Biden camp also seeking counter-strategies against Trump's potential victory declaration.

If President Trump declares victory based solely on the election day counting results, it is expected that not only the U.S. political sphere but society as a whole will fall into chaos. Since the voting results from battleground states that determine the outcome have not yet been released and the results of early voting, including the largest-ever mail-in ballots, have not been properly reflected, the possibility of widespread confusion is high.
