[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The People Power Party's by-election primary preparation committee raised its voice against the Democratic Party of Korea's by-election candidate recommendation policy, calling it a "shameless nomination" and demanding, "Stop the third victimization of victims of power-based sexual crimes."
On the 2nd, the preparation committee stated in a press release, "The Democratic Party's insistence on a 'shameless nomination' is the third victimization of victims of power-based sexual crimes and a lie to the public."
The committee asked President Moon Jae-in, "Where is the person who boldly promised to 'stake their party leadership' on the so-called 'innovation plan' that states, 'If a by-election is held due to a serious wrongdoing causing loss of office, no candidate will be recommended for that electoral district'?" and questioned, "The Democratic Party has nullified the 'Moon Jae-in clause' like this; did the president approve this?"
They also criticized Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon, saying, "Have you heard the desperate cries of the victims of former Mayor Park Won-soon's power-based sexual crimes asking, 'What exactly are you apologizing for?'" and added, "The media reports that this 'shameless nomination' is being pushed by Leader Lee Nak-yeon. Is ignoring the victims' cries and participating in the third victimization the proper behavior of the ruling party leader?"

The committee emphasized, "Please judge the Democratic Party, which repeatedly lies to the public and commits the third victimization of victims of power-based sexual crimes. Also, please judge the forces that abuse the authority meant to serve the people solely for their own vile desires and defend former local government heads who committed power-based sexual crimes."
