Food Tech Expansion in the Restaurant Industry... Enhancing Employee Work Efficiency and Convenience
Development of Quality Management System Service and App Distribution
Introduction of Serving Robot Rental Program and e-Academy
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Recently, the food service industry has been actively adopting food tech to enhance the work efficiency and convenience of headquarters and store employees. Efforts are underway to maximize work efficiency by not only receiving technology from food tech companies but also developing systems in-house.
On the 1st, the food service startup Woisik-in Co., Ltd. announced that it has developed a service called ‘FQMS (Franchise Quality Management System)’ and is providing it to about 80 food service franchise headquarters.
FQMS is a service that helps supervisors reduce the time spent writing reports and focus on on-site management by enabling store service quality inspections, automatic report completion, quality grade distribution charts, quality score trends, big data analysis through inspection keywords, and deriving service quality improvement measures via an app.
Additionally, it includes a non-face-to-face store management function that allows easy sharing of headquarters’ training and operation manuals with franchisees without meeting in person, thereby improving communication work efficiency between headquarters and franchisees.
‘Woowa Brothers’, the operator of the delivery app Baedal Minjok, is actively introducing robots into restaurants through a serving robot rental program.
In July, Woowa Brothers newly added two types of serving robots: a premium model with a large loading capacity and a serving robot specialized for small-scale restaurants, allowing restaurants to adopt robots according to their situation.
Since serving robots play a significant role in enhancing store operation efficiency and strengthening non-face-to-face services, Woowa Brothers aims to supply 300 units by the end of this year.
Some companies have developed food tech independently. ‘Kyochon F&B’, which operates the chicken franchise Kyochon Chicken, launched the franchisee training application ‘Kyochon e-Academy’ to improve the efficiency of franchisee education.
Kyochon e-Academy contains various contents necessary for store operation, including cooking and service training, industrial safety education, and legally mandated education. The biggest advantage of this app is that franchisees, who face many time and space constraints and difficulties in face-to-face training due to COVID-19, can learn freely without being restricted by time or place.

Recently, in addition to technology development by existing food tech companies, more food service companies are developing food tech technologies independently. The activation of food tech will enhance employee convenience and improve the quality of services at both headquarters and stores.”
