4 Universities Including Kookmin University Advance to KEA Future Car Excellent Industry-Academia Project Finals
'2020 Industry-Academia Project Challenge'... 5 Selected from 4 Schools Including Kookmin University
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Industry Association (KEA) announced on the 1st that five outstanding future automotive industry-academia projects presented by four universities, including Kookmin University, have advanced to the finals of the '2020 Industry-Academia Project Challenge.'
In the preliminary round, five projects were selected from 58 projects conducted last year through presentations by participating students and evaluations by experts in each technical field.
Representative projects include eco-friendly powertrain components, sensor fusion technology, and deep learning-based image processing object recognition systems.

View original imageThe selected future car projects will compete in the finals against industry-academia cooperation projects in fields such as intelligent semiconductors and eco-friendly smart ships. Awards include the Grand Prize (Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award) and Excellence Award (Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology Award).
An industry insider said, "Industry-academia projects are programs where verified talents can be discovered by working with graduate students who possess technology convergence capabilities," adding, "It will also provide students with an opportunity to experience companies in advance and clearly decide their career paths."

A KEA official emphasized, "To establish a virtuous cycle structure where proactive human resource development responding to changes in the industrial paradigm leads to industrial competitiveness, efforts to cultivate practical talents demanded by the industry are necessary."
