Establishment of the Cultural Heritage Administration Disaster Safety Committee
Professor Yoon Myung-oh of University of Seoul Appointed as Chairman
The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 30th that it has formed a Disaster Safety Committee for policy consultation on cultural heritage disaster safety. The inaugural members include Seonyeong Lee, Senior Researcher at the Catholic University Government Innovation Productivity Research Institute, Sangwoo Jeong, Professor at Inha University (both policy), Woongju Shin, Professor at Chosun University, Hyunjung Jo, Director of Mondo Architectural Heritage Preservation Institute (both cultural heritage), Minho Baek, Professor at Kangwon National University, Myungo Yoon, Professor at the University of Seoul (both disaster safety), Donghyun Kim, Professor at Jeonju University, and Seungil Myung, Principal Researcher at the Disaster Safety Intelligent Convergence Center, Intelligent Convergence Research Institute, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (both technology), totaling eight members. Over the next two years, based on their expertise in respective fields, they will provide consultation on cultural heritage disaster safety policies and institutional improvements, conduct safety inspections of cultural heritage, and carry out safety status surveys of newly designated wooden cultural properties. Professor Myungo Yoon will serve as the committee chair. In July, the Cultural Heritage Administration established the "Regulations on the Formation and Operation of the Cultural Heritage Disaster Safety Committee (Cultural Heritage Administration Training No. 538)" to provide a basis for the operation of the Disaster Safety Committee.
