Seoul City Announces Winners of the Student Contest for Creating Livable Neighborhoods
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 30th that a total of 12 works were selected as winners in the 11th 'Making a Livable Village' Student Contest.
This contest was planned to discover innovative ideas to consider the future of residential areas and improve the quality of life. It was held from April targeting university and graduate students nationwide, with 265 students from 50 universities participating. A total of 76 works were submitted, with 71 in the village-making category and 5 in the community revitalization category.
The grand prize winner in the village-making category, 'Jeonnongae(愛)dam,' received high praise for ▲focusing intensively on the challenging village with a high elderly population and lack of community spaces ▲making considerable efforts in basic data research such as spatial and socio-cultural analysis of the village ▲proposing a public-private-academic cooperation model ▲and suggesting several alternative programs.
The excellence award winner in the community revitalization category, 'Memories Made Together, Forest Village,' was recognized for including detailed research, analysis, and considerations aligned with the contest's purpose. It was also praised for the connectivity between the introduction of shared facilities and programs.
The award-winning works in the village-making and community revitalization categories will be shared with citizens through the 'For Everyone' exhibition at Dasi Sewoon Sewoon Hall for two weeks starting from the 20th of next month. An awards ceremony will also be held at Dasi Sewoon Sewoon Hall on the 24th of next month.

Ryu Hoon, Director of Urban Regeneration at Seoul City, said, "The Making a Livable Village Student Contest is a place for sharing the interest of Seoul City, residents, and university (graduate) students in residential areas," adding, "Seoul City will continue to spare no support to serve as a link connecting local communities and youth."
