Park Hyung-jun Rejoins People Power Party After 8 Years... Preparing to Run for Busan Mayor
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Former co-chairman of the United Future Party (now People Power Party), Park Hyung-jun, has rejoined the People Power Party after 8 years.
The People Power Party Emergency Response Committee approved Park's re-entry application during a closed meeting on the 29th.
Park left the party after being excluded from the Saenuri Party's nomination ahead of the 19th general election in 2012 and did not hold any party affiliation thereafter.
Park served as a member of the 17th National Assembly representing Suyeong District in Busan, and held positions such as Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Office under the Lee Myung-bak administration, Special Advisor for Social Affairs at the Blue House, and Secretary-General of the National Assembly. He is currently a professor in the Department of Sociology at Dong-A University.
