Suncheon-si Eases Criteria for Emergency Livelihood Support Project for COVID-19 Crisis Households
Application Eligibility Relaxed and Document Requirements Simplified; Application Period Extended Until the 6th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) is easing the criteria for the emergency livelihood support project for crisis households to actively support low-income crisis households struggling with livelihood due to decreased income caused by COVID-19.
The main changes include expanding the eligible applicants to those whose income has decreased due to COVID-19 regardless of the extent of income reduction, simplifying application documents by omitting the income reduction declaration form when objective evidence is submitted for the convenience of applicants, and recognizing the applicant's income reduction declaration if objective evidence cannot be provided.
Households with decreased income due to COVID-19, whose income is below 75% of the median income (KRW 3,562,000 for a family of four) and assets are below KRW 350 million, can apply by visiting the Bokjiro website or the Eup/Myeon/Dong administrative welfare centers by the 6th of next month. The support amounts are KRW 400,000 for a single-person household, KRW 600,000 for two-person households, KRW 800,000 for three-person households, and KRW 1,000,000 for four-person households.
However, recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security benefits, emergency welfare livelihood support, other COVID-19 damage support programs (emergency employment stabilization support, small business new hope funds, closed store re-challenge encouragement funds, worker employment retention support, youth special employment support program participants, job-seeking benefits, taxi drivers, etc.), public officials, and public job participants are excluded from eligibility.
A Suncheon City official stated, “We will operate a situation room to provide emergency livelihood support for low-income groups struggling due to COVID-19, actively discover and support crisis households by promoting the eased criteria and simplified application process.”
