Naju-si, 798 out of 799 Public Officials Test Negative for COVID-19... 1 Confirmed Case
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) conducted COVID-19 specimen tests on 799 city hall officials and citizens, and except for one additional confirmed case (Jeonnam No.183), all others tested negative.
According to the city on the 27th, following the COVID-19 confirmation of employee A (Jeonnam No.182) affiliated with the city hall the previous day, the city urgently installed a temporary screening clinic in an outdoor area of the city hall and conducted specimen tests on 799 people including main office employees and citizens who had contact with A.
Test results showed that except for employee B (Jeonnam No.183), who works in the same department as A, the remaining 798 tested negative.
Accordingly, the city lifted the temporary closure of the city hall building (including annex) that had been enacted the previous day.
From this afternoon, the city will resume operations in five annex departments excluding the departments where employees A and B, who tested positive for COVID-19, work.
A city official stated, “We apologize for the concern and inconvenience caused to citizens due to the COVID-19 confirmation of our employee and the temporary closure of the city hall,” and added, “We will do our best to minimize work gaps caused by employee self-quarantine measures.”
As of today, the number of self-quarantined individuals in Naju City includes a total of 160 people, such as employees working in the same department as A and B and civilians who had contact with the confirmed cases.
The city plans to thoroughly manage self-quarantined individuals through additional epidemiological investigations.
Mayor Kang In-gyu was also included in the self-quarantine category after contact with A during work last week and has entered self-quarantine until the 2nd of next month.
