Gwangju City to Host the 2nd Korea AI Cluster Forum on the 4th of Next Month
On the Theme of 'Startup Innovation City with the Digital New Deal, Gwangju's Future'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 27th that it will hold the ‘2nd Korea AI Cluster Forum’ at the Gwangju Technopark 3D Convergence Commercialization Support Center on the 4th of next month.
Hosted by Gwangju City and the Korea AI Cluster Forum, and organized by the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency, this forum is in its second year and, unlike last year, will be held online due to the COVID-19 situation.
Under the theme ‘Startup Innovation City Created by the Digital New Deal, the Future of Gwangju,’ about 1,000 participants from domestic and international industry, academia, and research sectors will explore ways to link and utilize artificial intelligence and regional key industries in Korea, and discuss future policy directions to realize Gwangju as a global ‘AI-centered city.’
In particular, the virtual event venue using on-site chroma key screens will be broadcast live to promote Gwangju’s excellent cultural convergence content and AI technology.
The forum will proceed in the order of an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, specialized sessions, and panel discussions.
The keynote speech, under the session topic ‘The Role and Future of AI Clusters,’ will be presented by Stephan Kuester, Head of International Consulting at Startup Genome and Tech Nation in London, UK, and Professor Lee Kyung-jeon of Kyung Hee University’s College of Business Administration, Department of Big Data Applications.
Following this, the specialized sessions will include presentations on ▲ ‘The Future of AI Business Envisioned by Gwangju’ by Kim Jong-won, Director of the AI Research Institute at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology ▲ ‘Future Prospects of Autonomous Vehicles Including LiDAR, Radar, and AI’ by Lee Han-bin, CEO of Seoul Robotics ▲ ‘Current and Future of Medical AI’ by Kim Dong-min, CEO of JLK Inc. ▲ ‘AI-based Next-generation Energy Platform’ by Lim Ji-seop, CEO of Crocus Energy.
In the panel discussion, domestic experts including Professor Song Se-kyung of KAIST, Research Fellow Hwang Jong-seong of the AI Future Strategy Center at the National Information Society Agency, Jang Dong-in, CEO of AIBB LAB, Hwang Byung-seon, CEO of Big Bang Angels Inc., and Adjunct Professor Park Jeong-il of Hanyang University’s Department of Computer Software will participate in heated discussions on the two topics: ‘The Role and Future of AI Clusters’ and ‘The Future of AI Business Envisioned by Gwangju.’
To participate in the event, applicants must pre-register online on the Korea AI Cluster Forum website and access the URL received via text message or email on the day of the event. More detailed information can be found on the website.
The forum will select up to 30 online participants in advance and use the Zoom video conferencing platform to facilitate communication such as Q&A between speakers and online participants. It will be broadcast live through the online platforms Webvinar and YouTube.
