[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Samsung Compliance Committee expressed its condolences regarding the passing of Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee.
On the 26th, the Compliance Committee stated, "We sincerely pray for the repose of the deceased and deeply comfort the grief of Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong and all the bereaved family members."
The committee added, "We believe that Samsung soaring higher as a top-tier global company is the true legacy left by Chairman Lee Kun-hee, and it is also likely the wish of many who have received the news of his peaceful passing. To achieve this, the establishment of a desirable compliance culture at Samsung is essential, which we also consider a task left by Chairman Lee Kun-hee."
Furthermore, they emphasized, "We will continue to fulfill our given duties so that the late chairman’s will can be genuinely realized, serving as a pillar of support."
Meanwhile, the Compliance Committee is a compliance oversight body newly established by Samsung in February this year, following Vice Chairman Lee’s acceptance of the recommendation from the retrial court.
