Jungnang-gu 'Sin2naneun Sarang-ui Call Center' Takes Action to Protect Neighbors
Conducting Various Activities Including Biweekly Check-in Calls and Disinfection of Playground and Pavilion in Apartment Complex
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Residents of Sinnae 2-dong in Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) have stepped up to overcome COVID-19.
The district announced that it will operate the ‘Sinnaneun Love Call Center’ until December to protect neighbors' safety from COVID-19.
Composed of eight residents from Sinnae 2-dong, the ‘Sinnaneun Love Call Center’ is building a meticulous care system by making twice-monthly welfare check calls to about 600 vulnerable households, including elderly living alone, who may experience care gaps due to the suspension of existing welfare services amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
In particular, this call center also provides guidance on various social welfare benefits such as health consultations, lunchbox and food market support, and connects residents to related services.
Additionally, the ‘Sinnaneun Love Call Center’ designates every Wednesday as ‘Intensive Disinfection Day’ to disinfect playgrounds, pavilions, and public facilities within apartment complexes. In July, it also inspected two outdoor heat relief shelters in Sinnae 2-dong to ensure compliance with quarantine rules, thereby protecting residents' safety from COVID-19.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I thank the residents participating in the ‘Sinnaneun Love Call Center’ for playing a role in the care system for vulnerable groups and the local welfare safety net amid COVID-19,” adding, “I hope this activity will spread a community culture where neighbors look out for each other.”
