National Namdo Gugak Center, Traditional Arts Group 'Aureum' Invited Performance
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The National Namdo Gugak Center announced that on the 23rd at 7 PM, it will hold an invited performance by the ‘Traditional Arts Group Aureum’ (Representative Moon Sujeong) at Jinakdang of the Namdo Gugak Center.
The Traditional Arts Group Aureum was established in 1995 with the purpose of preserving, inheriting, and developing traditional music.
Inspired by Korea’s Pungnyu music, it presents a comprehensive Korean traditional art combining music, song, and dance (樂·歌·舞) on domestic and international stages, and has attempted creative works that recreate the Joseon Dynasty Pungnyu room art culture to meet new artistic domains.
Our lives have been confined by COVID-19, with travel and exchanges among artists halted. The Traditional Arts Group Aureum, which has been conducting the World Music Pungnyu Series through collaborations with overseas musicians for several years, prepared this performance to gift rest and the joy of travel, as well as hope and happiness that we can meet again, through musical communication with foreign musicians residing in Korea (Turkey, Cameroon, C?te d'Ivoire, France).
The performance will be woven into a story starting with ‘World Travel with a Travel Guide, Departing from Jindo!! - Namdo Boat Song,’ followed by ▲‘Asia or Europe? Here is the Brotherly Country Turkey - ?sk?dar, Under the Hill of Sorrow’ ▲‘Familiar but First Time Hearing the Music~ Greece - Greek Love Song’ ▲‘A Country That Loves Korean Traditional Music as Much as K-pop, France - French Love Song, On the Bridge of Avignon’ ▲‘God, Style, and Excitement Stirring the Traveler’s Heart, C?te d'Ivoire - Dunia Dunia, Langban, Ongheya’ ▲‘Her Hometown, More Korean Than Koreans, Faraway Cameroon - Katale Katambo’ ▲‘Dreaming of the Day We Can Meet Again, Arriving at Jindo - Aureum Arirang, Ongheya.’
A representative of the National Namdo Gugak Center said, “We installed a fever detection camera to prepare for the risk of COVID-19 resurgence,” and added, “We strictly comply with social distancing guidelines during the performance, including temperature checks before the show, mandatory mask-wearing for all attendees, and spaced seating, to provide a safe gugak performance.”
Meanwhile, Friday Gugak Sympathy is free to attend, and to operate seating distancing, 160 people will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis through advance reservation.
A free shuttle bus running between Jindo town and the Gugak Center will be operated before and after the performance to assist audience convenience.
For detailed information about the performance, you can visit the National Namdo Gugak Center website or contact the Music Department by phone.
