'20-Year-Old Mother Sentenced to 1 Year and 6 Months for Giving Birth in PC Bang Bathroom and Killing Baby by Throwing It Out the Window'

The Criminal Division 11 of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Jeong Ji-seon) sentenced A (23) to 1 year and 6 months in prison on the 23rd for the charge of infant homicide. Additionally, a 3-year employment restriction at child and youth-related institutions and 2 years of probation were ordered.
The court stated, "The defendant caused the death of the baby by dropping the infant, who was incapable of protecting itself, outside," and added, "Considering the defendant's admission and remorse, the situation where she could not raise the child with the baby's father, her lack of financial means, and her brain disorder."
A was tried on charges of giving birth around 9:40 a.m. on February 5th in the restroom on the third floor of a PC bang in Nam-gu, Gwangju, and then throwing the baby out the window, resulting in the infant's death.
The baby fell onto a railing that was made to hold an air conditioner outdoor unit.
