Over 13,000 Investigators Deployed
Focused Crackdown on Drug Supply and SNS Distribution
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The National Police Agency announced on the 22nd that it will extend the ongoing "Second Half Special Crackdown on Drug Offenders" until the end of the year and implement a high-intensity special crackdown by concentrating the capabilities of criminal, cyber, and foreign affairs investigation departments.
This crackdown will be carried out alongside the special crackdown to block illegal drug distribution, which is being conducted jointly by the entire government to eradicate the recently increasing distribution of drugs.
The police have formed an "Illegal Drug Distribution Eradication Task Force" at the National Police Agency headquarters and local police agencies, and will establish an organic cooperation system between departments and discuss countermeasures. The special crackdown period, originally scheduled to end this month, will be extended until December 31, and 13,502 investigators from drug-specialized units and general investigation departments nationwide will be deployed.
The police plan to conduct intensive crackdowns especially on ▲illegal drug supply offenders ▲foreign drug offenders ▲drug offenders using the internet (dark web) and social network services (SNS). They also plan to track illegal profits related to drugs and apply for confiscation and seizure preservation.
