Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, paid tribute to the Chinese People's Volunteer Army Martyrs' Cemetery in Hoechang County, South Pyongan Province, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of China's participation in the Korean War, according to the Korean Central News Agency on the 22nd.

The agency reported, "Comrade Kim Jong-un visited the Chinese People's Volunteer Army Martyrs' Cemetery located in Hoechang County, South Pyongan Province, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army's participation in the Korean front, and paid high respects to the martyrs."
The Martyrs' Cemetery of the People's Volunteer Army is the site where the Chinese People's Volunteer Army headquarters was located during the Korean War, and it is the burial place of Mao Anying, the eldest son of former Chairman Mao Zedong, who was killed in the Korean War, among others.
Chairman Kim visited the tomb and laid a wreath in his name, saying, "The red blood of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army soldiers has permeated every corner of our homeland," and "Our Party, government, and people will never forget their noble spirit and honorable sacrifice forever."
He emphasized the historical value of North Korea-China friendship, stating, "The great victory won by the armies and peoples of the two countries, Korea and China, who connected their destinies as one and shared joys and sorrows together, still holds immense significance today as time passes and centuries change."
Present at the tribute were Choe Ryong-hae, First Vice Chairman of the State Affairs Commission; Ri Pyong-chol, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Military Commission; Premier Kim Tok-hun; along with Pak Jong-chon, Chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army; and Party Vice Chairmen Kim Jae-ryong, Ri Il-hwan, and Kim Hyong-jun.
Also participating were Foreign Minister Ri Son-gwon, Navy Commander Kim Myong-sik, Air and Anti-Air Force Commander Kim Kwang-hyok, Hoechang County Party Committee Chairman Ri Yong-chol, and Hoechang County People's Committee Chairman Kim In-chol.

Earlier, on the 10th, President Xi referred to the bilateral relationship as that of "comrades and friends" in his congratulatory message to Chairman Kim. Additionally, in China, screenings of films and documentaries themed around the 70th anniversary of the Chinese participation in the Korean War have recently increased significantly.
