On the 21st, Dongseo University announced that it signed an agreement with Coursera, a leader in MOOCs, in response to the prolonged global COVID-19 pandemic and the rapid development of edutech combining education and IT, which has increased the importance of online education within universities.
Dongseo University became the first Korean university to officially sign a long-term educational platform agreement for the ‘Coursera for Campus’ platform.
Through this agreement, Dongseo University students will have unlimited access to over 4,200 lecture contents provided by more than 200 prestigious overseas universities on the Coursera platform, allowing diverse utilization in classes.
Dongseo University students will be offered learning opportunities to broaden their academic horizons and develop professional competencies by taking overseas online lecture contents. Upon completion, they will receive certificates of completion from Coursera.
Not only can Coursera lecture contents be used in Dongseo University classes, but customized lectures can also be recommended according to educational purposes.
Dongseo University will fully support the tuition fees for students participating in the completion courses and plans to operate various support systems related to foreign languages and learning content to facilitate smooth English lecture attendance.
Founded by Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng to provide world-class education universally, Coursera is currently a global leader in online higher education platforms, offering future education to 72 million learners worldwide.
More than 200 universities and industry education partners worldwide provide projects, lectures, professional courses, certificates, and degree programs through Coursera.
Jang Je-guk, president of Dongseo University, stated, “In the post-COVID era, university education has become more about the content and quality of teaching than the physical infrastructure of the university.”
