Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority, Renovation of Aging Facilities at Yeosu Coastal Passenger Terminal
Improving Public Service Quality through Enhancements in DID Equipment and Operation Information Systems
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik, hereinafter referred to as the Authority) announced on the 20th that it has installed DID (Digital Information Display, hereinafter DID) at Yeosu Coastal Passenger Terminal (hereinafter Passenger Terminal).
The Passenger Terminal operates routes including Geomundo and three others, serving as a key point for coastal transportation with about 310,000 users annually, but passengers have experienced inconvenience due to the outdated navigation information system.
Accordingly, the Authority replaced all twelve 46” DIDs at the existing ticket booths and gates that broadcast arrival and departure information with 55” models, and replaced seventeen 46” DIDs above the waiting area with five 98” models.
This project, carried out over three months from July to this month, aimed to provide passengers with arrival and departure information at the Passenger Terminal through highly visible electronic display boards.
The Authority expects that by developing and replacing the outdated navigation information system, it will respond promptly to ferry schedule changes and provide passengers with improved information and convenience.
Kim Min-gu, Head of the Port Facilities Department, said, “We will maximize the convenience of users in multi-use facilities by improving the existing outdated facilities,” and added, “We will continuously identify and improve inconveniences experienced by Passenger Terminal users to ensure safe and convenient use of the terminal.”
