Busan Sasang Police Station Issues Warning to Driver Who Spilled 100 Boxes of Mackerel Due to Improper Loading of Truck
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] “Mackerel spilled all over the road!”
It took the police, who responded to the 112 emergency call, two hours to clean up the spilled mackerel on the road together with the driver and put them back into boxes.
Their uniforms were soaked with sweat and smelled of fish, but passersby and citizens who saw the scene applauded.
At around 9:28 a.m. on the 20th, a truck carrying 100 boxes of mackerel from the Nambu Bumin-dong Joint Fish Market, heading to Daegu, spilled all the mackerel boxes at once on the road opposite Nanum Oil Bank in Hakjang-dong, Sasang-gu, Busan.
The road turned into an unexpected fish market. The spilled mackerel caused chaos and began to obstruct vehicle traffic.
After receiving the 112 call and arriving at the scene, police officers including Sergeant Kim Seo-hyun of the Hakjang Police Substation rolled up their uniform sleeves as two of the four lanes in one direction became impassable due to the spill accident.
After about two hours of “work,” they put the mackerel back into boxes. Their uniforms were soaked with sweat and the fishy smell.
