[Breaking News] Government "Discussing Revision of Social Distancing Levels... Announcement Expected by the End of This Month"
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] The government will announce a fundamental reform plan for the 'social distancing' stages to respond to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) by the end of this month.
On the 20th, Son Young-rae, head of the Strategic Planning Division at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, said at a COVID-19 situation briefing held at the Government Complex Sejong, "We are conducting practical discussions related to the reform of social distancing, and we aim to announce it by the end of October."
The government previously stated that, in addition to the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, it plans to subdivide the social distancing stages by comprehensively considering the response status of quarantine and medical systems, such as the number of critically ill patients and fatality rates. Currently, the stages are divided into levels 1 to 3.
