During the briefing, it was also stated that plans will be made to stimulate consumption and boost the economy.
Last month, Changwon City prepared a ‘Comprehensive Emergency Livelihood and Economic Measures’ totaling 12.4 trillion KRW, including the government’s 4th supplementary budget. Support measures are being implemented for small business owners, vulnerable employment groups, crisis households, parents, and others affected, as well as for quarantine and economic reinforcement.
In this additional measure, customized emergency disaster relief funds totaling 1.7 billion KRW will be provided for ▲chartered bus drivers ▲cultural and artistic personnel ▲newlywed families.
Due to the spread of COVID-19, about 800 chartered bus drivers who are facing difficulties from reduced travel and commuting operations will receive 1 million KRW per person, totaling 800 million KRW.
Additionally, about 600 cultural artists whose incomes have decreased will receive 1 million KRW each, totaling 600 million KRW. About 500 newlywed families who had to cancel their weddings during the social distancing level 2 period will receive 500,000 KRW each, totaling 250 million KRW.
The city plans to accept applications until the 2nd of next month, promptly review them, finalize the recipients early, and ensure that the support funds are paid out in early next month.
Choi Young-cheol, Director of the Safety, Construction and Transportation Bureau, said, “While making every effort for thorough quarantine, we will also work to revive the economic flame. Although social distancing is at level 1, sporadic group infections are still ongoing, so the situation cannot be considered safe.”
