Retailers Launch Large-Scale Discount Event Starting This Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Retailers have launched large-scale discounts starting this month. As the US 'Black Friday,' which was held every November, has been moved up by a month, domestic retailers are holding large-scale events to prevent customer attrition.
According to the distribution industry on the 17th, Lotte Department Store is conducting a discount event targeting overseas luxury brands until the 15th of next month. They have secured popular stock from about 40 luxury brands in major cities worldwide such as Milan and Paris. Lotte On will hold a large-scale discount event for ten days starting from the 23rd.
SSG.com is offering up to 80% discounts on 25 representative products and various other items until the 18th. Clean beef refrigerated sirloin steak (300g) and US Black Sapphire (500g) are sold at prices 40% and 30% cheaper than the original prices, respectively. Luxury brand items such as Moose Knuckles padding, Max Mara coats, and Thom Browne trench coats are also on sale at discounted prices. Sportswear from Nike, Adidas, and others is discounted up to 51%.
Home shopping is also holding large-scale discount events. Lotte Home Shopping is conducting a mega shopping festival called ‘Korea Gwangcle Festival’ until the 25th, selling goods worth a total of 300 billion KRW at discounted prices. As the industry's largest shopping event, a total of 2,200 brands participate across all channels including TV, online, and mobile. During the event, Lotte Home Shopping provides a total of 11.9 billion KRW in 'Gwangcle support funds.' Every day, the first 60,000 customers receive two discount coupons worth 10,000 KRW each. Coupons can be used one per order for purchases over 50,000 KRW. Card discounts are up to 10%, E-Club members receive 10% points accumulation, which is 100 times that of regular customers, and up to 20% points accumulation is offered when purchasing products via the mobile app.
