US State Department: "Proposal for End-of-War Declaration Is on the Negotiation Table with North Korea"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Eun-byeol] The U.S. Department of State responded to National Security Office Director Suh Hoon's remarks linking the declaration of the end of the war and denuclearization by saying, "That (declaration of the end of the war) proposal is on the (negotiation) table (with North Korea)."
In response to a request for comment from the U.S. Radio Free Asia (RFA) regarding Director Suh's statement, the State Department said, "The United States will approach flexibly to reach a balanced agreement on all commitments made at the Singapore (North Korea-U.S.) summit."
The State Department also added, "The United States is committed to meaningful negotiations with North Korea so that the North Korean people can have a brighter future."
The North Korea-U.S. leaders agreed on four points at the June 12, 2018 Singapore summit: ▲establishing a new North Korea-U.S. relationship ▲building a permanent peace regime on the Korean Peninsula ▲complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula ▲repatriation of war prisoners and remains of the missing from the Korean War.
This implies that the declaration of the end of the war could be addressed in the process of implementing the Singapore agreement, which aligns with Director Suh Hoon's remarks that "the declaration of the end of the war cannot be separated from denuclearization."

On the 15th (local time), after meeting with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the State Department building in Washington D.C., Director Suh told reporters, "It is common sense to think that the declaration of the end of the war cannot be separated (from the North Korean denuclearization process)." He also said, "The issue of the declaration of the end of the war is not a new issue. It has always been on the negotiation table, and there can be no differing views between South Korea and the U.S. on that matter."
