[2020 National Audit] 'Tes-hyung' Echoes in the Audit Hall... Kim Hyun-mi "Apologize to the People"
"Popular Songs Reflect the National Spirit of the Times"
"Housing Policies Have Made People's Lives Difficult"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] "Ah, Tess-hyung~ Why is the world like this? Why is it so hard?"
On the 16th, during the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s National Assembly audit held at the Government Sejong Complex, a part of singer Na Hoon-a’s song "Tess-hyung" was played. An opposition party lawmaker prepared the song to comfort the hearts of citizens struggling with recent housing policies. Minister Kim Hyun-mi of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport bowed her head, saying, "I feel sorry."
On that day, Song Seok-jun, a People Power Party lawmaker on the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, said during the audit, "I understand that Minister Kim attended the funeral of the Kuwaiti director recently, but at that time, she should have comforted the citizens who were deeply distressed by the government’s flawed housing policies."
He then asked, "During the recent holiday, the king of singers Na Hoon-a comforted the people through an emotional performance. There is a song called Tess-hyung that was released then. Have you ever heard it?" When Minister Kim replied, "No," a part of Tess-hyung was played in the audit hall. Minister Kim smiled lightly as the song played.
Lawmaker Song pointed out, "Popular songs reflect the spirit and emotions of the people’s era," and “These days, BTS is dominating the global music scene, and Korean companies are being recognized as the world’s best, so why are the people struggling so much? The housing policy has made the lives of the people difficult.”
In response, Minister Kim said, "I do not agree with everything, but I feel sorry about the concerns many citizens have."
