Seven Eleven Delivers Lunchboxes and Masks to Namdaemun Shantytown
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Seven Eleven Charlotte Volunteer Group announced that on the morning of the 16th, they will carry out sharing volunteer activities for the elderly in Namdaemun jjokbangchon together with the celebrity charity volunteer group ‘The Bridge’.
Seven Eleven and The Bridge will share warm kindness by delivering 250 cups of their own coffee brand Warm Seven Cafe, 200 lunch boxes, and 6,000 masks to the elderly in jjokbangchon.
This volunteer activity was prepared for the elderly in jjokbangchon who are experiencing difficulties due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and sudden cold weather. As volunteer activities and donations to jjokbangchon have significantly decreased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, they stepped up to provide warm sharing for the elderly in jjokbangchon who are in urgent need.
In addition, Seven Eleven plans to donate its products worth about 2 million won, including Oxford blocks, figures, and T-shirts, to the ‘contactless market’ for the underprivileged conducted by The Bridge next month. The sales proceeds will be donated to organizations supporting underprivileged groups facing difficulties around us.
Ham Taeyoung, Head of Communications at Seven Eleven, said, “We believe the difficulties of the elderly in jjokbangchon will be greater due to the sudden cold weather,” and added, “We hope this activity will be of some help to the elderly, and we will continue to carry out social contribution activities for underprivileged groups in welfare blind spots as a close neighbor.”
