Recruitment of Online Supporters for 'Chungjang Festival of Memories' in Dong-gu, Gwangju
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 15th that it is recruiting ‘Memory of Chungjang Festival Online Supporters’ for local cultural and artistic groups to discover online video content of the Chungjang Festival and boost the morale of local cultural artists.
Instead of holding the Chungjang Festival this year, which was abruptly canceled to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Dong-gu proposed to the city and government to discover and produce non-face-to-face content, leading to the recruitment of online supporters involving local cultural artists.
Through the supporters, cultural and artistic videos of the ‘Chungjang Festival’ will be discovered and posted on the festival’s official SNS and YouTube, and an online platform for the festival will be established.
The recruitment fields are six categories: ▲Popular Music ▲Korean Traditional Music ▲Music ▲Theater ▲Fine Arts ▲Dance.
Applicants must be cultural and artistic groups located in Gwangju or members belonging to those groups, and the representative of the applying group must have had an address in Gwangju for at least one year as of the recruitment date.
For participation methods, refer to the Dong-gu Office and Chungjang Festival websites, and groups wishing to participate can apply by email by the 30th.
Groups selected as supporters will subscribe to the Chungjang Festival’s official SNS and YouTube channels, participate in the production of Chungjang Festival online performance content by filming performance videos or submitting work results, and engage in promotional activities.

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “This year’s 17th Memory of Chungjang Festival was inevitably canceled to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and ensure the safety of visitors,” adding, “We will continue to develop new non-face-to-face programs and other new content to soothe the regret of the festival’s cancellation and support local cultural artists.”
