Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is recruiting participants for the 12th Non-Face-to-Face Volunteer University to revitalize volunteer activities that have been subdued due to the spread of COVID-19.
The district planned the Non-Face-to-Face Volunteer University to provide opportunities for volunteers who want to participate but find it difficult due to COVID-19, and to encourage continuous volunteer activities.
The Volunteer University is conducted online using the video application Zoom, allowing safe participation from each home.
On the 21st, real-time sessions for "Online Volunteer Capacity Building Training" and "Making Organic Baby Shoes" volunteer activities will be held.
Shoe kits can be picked up in advance at the Volunteer Center on the 15th, 16th, and 19th, and completed shoes can be submitted to the Volunteer Center to be donated to welfare facilities in Gangseo-gu.
On November 4th, a program titled "Finding the Right Volunteer Work for Me with MBTI" will be operated, and MBTI materials must be collected in advance at the Volunteer Center on the 29th and 30th.
Since MBTI, a personality type test, will be conducted and volunteers can find volunteer activities that suit them, it is expected to be very helpful for those starting volunteer work.
Also, on November 11th, a YouTube live lecture titled "Volunteer Activity Healing Training" will be held, providing volunteers with time to empathize and communicate.
Any adult volunteer in the region can apply, and application forms can be downloaded from the Gangseo-gu Volunteer Center website notice board and submitted via email.
It is possible to apply for multiple programs, and all programs require submission of a worksheet describing activity impressions within the specified deadline to receive volunteer hours credit.
A district official said, "Although these are difficult times due to COVID-19, we have prepared a meaningful program where people can share warmth with neighbors and gain confidence as volunteers," adding, "We will continue to expand volunteer activities by utilizing various face-to-face and non-face-to-face programs."
