Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member Kim Ki-tae's 'Mountain Village Promotion Ordinance' Passes Standing Committee
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-gyeong] The Jeollanam-do Provincial Council announced on the 14th that it has approved the "Jeollanam-do Mountain Village Promotion Ordinance," which was proposed by Assemblyman Kim Ki-tae (Democratic Party of Korea·Suncheon 1), and submitted it to the plenary session.
This ordinance was prepared to increase the income of residents in mountain village areas and promote balanced regional development through mountain village promotion. To this end, it includes the establishment of a comprehensive mountain village promotion plan, approval of specialized mountain village promotion projects, and support for the revitalization of mountain village ecological villages.
Once the ordinance is enforced, Jeollanam-do will establish and implement a comprehensive plan that includes the creation of mountain villages linked to forest welfare services such as forest recreation and healing, the inheritance of the unique culture and traditions of mountain villages, and the promotion of green and ecological tourism. In particular, projects for specialized mountain village promotion and the revitalization of mountain village ecological villages, which serve as hubs for forest management, are expected to gain momentum.
Assemblyman Kim Ki-tae said, "At a time when the creation of mountain villages linked to healing, recreation, and experience is gaining attention while maintaining the valuable functions of forests such as greenhouse gas absorption and air quality improvement, this ordinance enactment is timely," adding, "I hope that mountain villages will actively utilize forest resources to become more attractive spaces and that residents will become more prosperous as well."
