Seon-gap Kim, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, Receives 1st Annual Legislative Award
The Korea Constitutional Association Awarded Grand Prize for Promoting National Prosperity and Nurturing Talent Among Incumbent Metropolitan and Basic Local Government Heads, Provincial Education Superintendents, and Local Assembly Members
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, received the Grand Prize in the Autonomous Administration category at the '1st Korea Constitutional Award Ceremony' held on the 14th at the CCMM Building in Yeouido.
The Korea Constitutional Award is presented by the Korea Constitutional Association, a corporation, to current metropolitan and basic local government heads, city and provincial superintendents of education, and local council members, evaluating their contributions to ▲upholding constitutional values ▲promoting national prosperity and citizens' welfare ▲national future strategies ▲nurturing national talents.

Under the slogan "The value residents dream of, Gwangjin made together," Mayor Kim contributed to improving residents' welfare by establishing and operating the Gwangjin Welfare Foundation to eliminate welfare blind spots and attracting the 50 Plus East Campus to support the second act of life for middle-aged citizens, among various welfare projects.
He also contributed to enhancing regional value by creating urban infrastructure such as the construction of the Jayang Yusuji cultural complex facility and the development of the Junggok-dong medical complex. He is implementing policies unique to Gwangjin-gu, including the nation's first subsidy project for the price difference in scrap collection and the installation of vehicle entry prohibition lines.
Furthermore, through proactive measures such as installing the city's first temporary screening clinic inside a university, providing preventive action guidelines and distributing quarantine supplies to religious facilities, he minimized local infections. He was highly evaluated for initiatives to revitalize the local economy affected by COVID-19, including Seoul's first special loan Gwangjin-type emergency operating funds and payback support for local love gift certificates.
Mayor Kim also received recognition for his efforts in discovering and nurturing local talents by promoting the Gwangjin-gu Innovation Education District project and Sejong University Campus Town project, operating youth talent job experience programs and the youth center "Zero Gravity Zone."
