Yeosu City to Conduct Rabies Vaccination Until the End of This Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City announced on the 14th that it is conducting rabies vaccinations for 1,000 dogs and cats by the end of this month.
In the dong areas, vaccinations are administered at 11 animal hospitals with the cooperation of the Yeosu City Veterinary Association, while in the eup and myeon areas, public health veterinarians visit and give injections.
The cost is 5,000 KRW in dong areas, and free in eup and myeon areas.
Rabies is an infectious disease transmitted to animals or humans through bites or scratched wounds from infected animals.
Dogs and cats over 3 months old kept at home must be vaccinated.
The city promotes rabies prevention for companion animals by vaccinating 1,000 animals in spring and 1,000 animals in autumn every year.

Meanwhile, the official added, “According to the animal registration system implemented since 2013, dogs over 3 months old kept as pets must be mandatorily registered in the Animal Protection Management System,” and “We hope many citizens will participate in the animal registration system, which allows for the quick recovery of lost family-like animals.”
