‘Analysis and Countermeasures of Silent Bank Runs’ Awarded Grand Prize
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] The Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation announced on the 14th that it held the '2020 University (Graduate) Student Excellent Thesis Contest' award ceremony at its headquarters in Seoul on the 14th.
This contest was conducted to provide university (graduate) students with an opportunity to analyze financial issues from a new perspective and to discover ideas for improving the deposit insurance system.
A total of 20 theses underwent rigorous evaluation in this contest. Six works were awarded in total: one grand prize, one excellence prize, and four encouragement prizes. The students Baek Chang-ha, Park Ja-hoon, and Song Ki-woo (Seoul National University), who received the grand prize, presented an innovative idea in ‘Analysis and Countermeasures of Silent Bank Runs’ by utilizing real-time payment system data to quickly detect silent bank runs, which are difficult to capture with existing information.
