Gwangju City Launches 'Naeilkeum Job Project'... Recruiting Participants and Service Providers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 14th that it will implement the ‘Naeil Kiwoom Job Project’ to help low-income earners who are experiencing economic difficulties due to COVID-19 accumulate work experience and support their livelihoods.
This project was promoted as part of the government's second emergency disaster relief and will invest a total of 900 million KRW to provide temporary (2-month) jobs to about 200 low-income individuals at social welfare facilities, social economy organizations, and others. The salary is 1.8 million KRW per month.
Eligible participants are low-income individuals under 65 years old with an income below 75% of the median income (monthly income of 3.56 million KRW or less for a family of four). However, those participating in self-support work or other government-funded jobs cannot participate in this project.
Applications for the project can be submitted by social welfare facilities and others wishing to participate as job-providing institutions to the Gwangju Metropolitan Self-Support Center by the 20th, and low-income individuals wishing to participate in the jobs can apply directly to the selected job-providing institutions by the end of this month.
Gwangju City will support a salary of 1.8 million KRW per person per month through the job-providing institutions for job participants, and will provide 450,000 KRW per person per month in project funds to the job-providing institutions.
The status of selected job-providing institutions and low-income participants can be confirmed at the Gwangju Metropolitan Self-Support Center.

Park Hyang, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau of the city, said, “During this time of increased difficulties due to COVID-19, we expect that low-income residents of Gwangju will benefit economically through temporary public jobs,” and added, “We hope social welfare facilities and socio-economic organizations actively participate to provide quality jobs.”
